45 snook were caught this Monday during a chartered fishing trip in the South Tampa Bay with long time client Dave Vandyke and his two sons.  We fished the Cockroach Bay area and the back creeks in the same area.

At our last fishing spot of the day, Dave's son hooked a large snook about 15 lbs, but the hook pulled before we could take a picture and release it.  Dave's son is no stranger to catching big snook.   In March he caught one that was 22 lbs.

With a warm weather forecast ahead, the fishing for trout will be good on the deep grass flats with redfish in the shallow flats of Tampa Bay and snook in the back creeks.

Trout season is open south of Fred Howard Park.

Tight lines,

Hi everyone.  I hope Christmas was good for all.

The south shore area of Apollo Beach was holding a good amount of snook on Friday and Saturday with most snook caught on deep water docks.  On shrimp and live sardines with 3/0 hooks, four big snook that were hooked and could not be stopped before they broke us off.

There is also a lot of trout on the deep water grass flats!  Trout were caught up to 23 inches and there is also a lot of redfish up on the shallows flats.

With the weather warm until the next cold front late next week the fish should bite great so tight lines and good fishing and to all have a good new year.
